Loeb, driving a BRX Hunter, was over 3 minutes ahead of Mattias Ekström’s Audi at the finish line. No. 3 Lucas Moraes (Toyota) finished more than 2 minutes behind the Swede. Championship leader Nasser Al-Attiyah finished in fourth place.
Carlos Sainz did not leave on Wednesday. The Spanish rally driver overturned on stage nine and then headed to hospital. He reversed his decision, but his car proved too badly damaged to continue. With his retirement, Ekström is the last Audi driver in the race, after Stéphane Peterhansel had also been forced to retire earlier.
