May Day belongs to the unions. For the first time, large rallies are taking place in Baden-Württemberg again after the corona restrictions were lifted.
The Confederation of German Trade Unions (DGB) has again called for a tax on the rich in view of Labor Day. Country chief Kai Burmeister said: “It’s time for the strong shoulders to really contribute more to the community. A property levy is a useful tool for this.”
Burning future tasks
The money is there to finance urgent future tasks such as climate neutrality, the restructuring of the economy and reliable services of general interest. Burmeister said billions would have to be spent on the projects: for the energy and transport transition, housing construction and healthcare. “We are committed to providing services of general interest in which financial investors do not dictate the conditions.”

47 rallies in Baden-Württemberg
The needs of the people in the country should be the priority – especially now after two years of Corona, which would have placed an extreme social and economic burden on the country, and especially now that the prices are galloping. In order to emphasize its demands, the trade union federation is said to be organizing 47 rallies around Labor Day in Baden-Württemberg, 38 of them on May 1 itself. The central DGB event with state chairman Burmeister is on Sunday in Ulm.
