Ralfs Eilands and Ventspils big band will play in a joint concert

The program includes compositions by musicians James Brown and Bob Marley, as well as the band “Earth, Wind & Fire”. The original arrangements were made by Ritvars Garoza. During the evening, in addition to vocal performances, several instrumental solos are expected.

Latvian singer Ralfs Eilands is one of the founders of the group “PeR”. He once directed several TV shows. In 2013, together with the group “PeR”, he participated in the Latvian Eurovision national selection “Song 2013”, where he won the first place and the right to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden. In 2019, Ralph Eiland was named “European of the Year in Latvia” in a public vote.

The origins of the Ventspils big band can be traced back to 1950. The unit has been operating under the direction of saxophonist, producer and music teacher Renārs Lāčs since 2010. The concert staff consists of students and teachers of the Music High School. In recent years, the Ventspils Big Band has played together with many popular Latvian artists – Maestro Raimonds Pauls, composer Zigmaras Liepiņš, musicians Intars Busulis, Daumants Kalniņš, Jānis Stībelis and others. The big band has also had the opportunity to perform with world-renowned foreign artists – trumpet player Gerhard Ornig and jazz performer Daniel Chachia from Austria, Swedish musician Grammy Award winner Magnus Lindgren, Estonian vocalist Sofia Rubin-Hunter and many others. For more than 15 years, the Ventspils Big Band has been a resident of the contemporary rhythm music festival “Ventspils Groove”.
