Ralf Rangnick Changes Man United’s Game, Carrick Doesn’t Matter : Okezone Bola

MANCHESTER Ralf Rangnick officially announced as coach Manchester United, Monday (11/29/2021). The German tactician will certainly change the Red Devils’ style of play.

Rangnick, nicknamed The Professor, is the originator of gegenpressing or counter pressing. The system focuses on the system to grab the ball as quickly as possible and immediately make an attack.

Rangnick’s tactics were later adopted by Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp. While his protege, Thomas Tuchel also implemented a similar scheme at Chelsea.

However, Carrick denied this assumption. He believes that Man United will remain in its identity even though it is handled by coaches with different playing styles.

Carrick also gave an example that there were former Man United coaches named Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho whose playing style was different from Sir Alex Ferguson’s, but could still win trophies. Therefore, the Englishman is not worried that the club culture will disappear with the arrival of Rangnick.

“The club will not change, the club is still Manchester United. If you look at history, there have been many different coaches and players, with different systems and styles at this club.

“As a club, we are aware of that (change in playing character), and that’s where we clearly need to emphasize. I’m sure we’ll be there (the new system).”
