Dresden. Ralf Hauptmann has been part of the Dynamo Dresden workforce for 15 years. Since the 54-year-old returned to the Black and Yellows in 2008 after ending his successful professional career, the former midfielder has worked in the youth department. From 2008 to 2010 he managed the youth academy, in 2012 he designed and founded the Dynamo Dresden football school, which he has steadily built up and established ever since. But now the father of Dynamo’s current third division professional Niklas Hauptmann is leaving the club at his own request.

According to a Dynamo press release, Ralf Hauptmann said on parting: “In my career as a junior and licensed player at SGD, this club and its special environment have given me a lot and shaped my life. To have given something back that will please many young and old Dynamo fans in the future makes me very proud and happy. Being able to represent this club has always been a calling for me, a privilege! A big thank you goes to all the employees of the football school, the coaches and all the supporters of the football school who made this success story possible. Likewise, of course, to all the clubs and parents who have placed their trust in us.”

Dynamo’s commercial director Jürgen Wehlend said about Hauptmann’s farewell: “Ralf Hauptmann shaped Dynamo Dresden. He was an idol both for the older fans who still saw him play and for the younger supporters for whom he was the symbol of the Dynamo Dresden football school. We are and have always been grateful to him for his services. We wish him all the best for the future.”

It is planned to officially say goodbye to Ralf Hauptmann in the stadium for one of the first home games of the coming season. His work at the football school, for which former professionals René Beuchel and Patrick Wiegers also work, will be taken over by René Schäfer, previous coordinator of the movement school and coach of the U11s, from July 1st.
