Known for the shirt that made Madama de Sanxenxo disappear, Rakayo Crew is a clothing store created by Nico Lopez, a 22-year-old from Sigüeiro living in Portonovo. “Rakayo Crew was born four years ago, thanks to the summer,” says Nico, who came every summer to enjoy the Sanxenxina beach. “Once I came to live here I soaked up more in the surf and, thanks to that, it motivated me to design t-shirts”.
Rakayo is already well known in the Sanxenxo area, above all for making the felt in a video as a marketing campaign for one of their t-shirts. But, leaving all this behind, the next step for his creator is to open a physical store in the center of Portonovo, the town where he spent the summer since he was little and now he and his family have decided to live all year.
Rakayo and Sanxenxo
Although almost everyone in the town of Portonovo You already know Nico and his clothes, where his shirts are most successful is outside the area: “By selling them online, many people from all over Spain buy, we have many followers from abroad,” he clarifies. “There are many people who spend the summer here, know what is in Sanxenxo and buy the shirt. But there are many people who don’t know him, who like the brand philosophyfollows us and, when he sees what we upload, he decides to buy them”.
Rakayo Crew is a brand deeply rooted in Sanxenxo: “We are here all day uploading Sanxenxo content and we make those who don’t know us fully see what this area is a bit”.
But Nico is clear about it: “I define it as a brand that likes to be inspired by other places, not just Sanxenxo”, they recently went to Nazareth to do a campaign. “We travel there, we create content for the garments and we expand and enjoy it.”
