Jaipur – Rajasthan Sports Council has sealed the home ground of Rajasthan Royals with only one month left for IPL. The Sawang Man Singh Stadium, which is controlled by the Rajasthan Cricket Association, has been closed down by the Sports Council citing non-payment of dues. The Rajasthan Cricket Association’s office and academy operating here have been sealed.
Sports Council Secretary Ram Chaudhary had written to the Cricket Association asking for the handover of the stadium. But the Cricket Association was not ready to hand over the stadium. With this action was taken. “We have sent them several notices. But there was no reply. Their only demand was to extend the contract from eight years to 10 years. They were not ready to pay any obligations. We have discussed this with the Rajasthan Cricket Association. They have received around Rs.200 crores. Still they say that they have not got anything.”- Ram Chowdhury responded.
The Sports Council stated that the Cricket Association received a lot of money during the Rajasthan Premier League and none of it was used for rent. There will be no hindrance to conduct the matches of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. The Sports Council stated that the players will get all the facilities and national and international competitions can be held here.
But RCA President Vaibhav Gehlot responded that the Cricket Association did not get enough time to respond and that political games are behind the incident. “The current action is in the name of old dues. Politicians should never interfere in sports. This cannot be accepted.” – Vaibhav Gehlot clarified.
