Religious Conversion Attempt Sparks Outrage in Rajasthan Village
Sirohi, Rajasthan – A disturbing incident of alleged forced religious conversion has shaken a village in Rajasthan, sparking outrage and demanding swift police action. Panku Devi, a young woman residing in Dhanari village, was reportedly subjected to intense pressure by her in-laws to convert to Christianity.
The situation escalated to a horrifying level when Devi refused to renounce her faith. Her in-laws, who had reportedly already converted, allegedly confined her to a room for a week, binding her feet, in an attempt to force compliance. The trauma inflicted upon Panku Devi was so severe that she delivered her baby prematurely.
"The people approached us," stated a representative of the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal, a group that advocates for Hindu rights. "We immediately sensed the gravity of the situation. We intervened, bringing the victim to safety and ensuring medical attention for both her and her newborn child."
Deeply concerned by this alleged act of religious coercion, the victim’s family lodged a formal complaint with the Sirohi Superintendent of Police. According to the complaint, Panku Devi’s in-laws, motivated by their new religious affiliation, had been relentlessly pressuring her to convert.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting immediate action from Hindu groups. Upon Panku Devi’s return, they performed a purification ceremony, reciting Hanuman Chalisa, a Hindu devotional chant, and bathing her with Ganga water, a sacred river in Hinduism. They firmly condemned the attempted conversion and demanded justice for the victim.
This case has raised serious concerns about the increasing incidences of religious conversion attempts in India. The police have initiated an investigation, forming special teams to track down the individuals allegedly responsible for this heinous act. Authorities are also actively searching for the priest believed to be involved in pressuring Panku Devi.
