SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ became the highest grossing Indian film in Japan. Rajamouli’s film broke the 24-year record held by Rajinikanth’s film ‘Muthu’. The film earned over Rs 24 crore from Japan.
On October 21, RRR released the film Rajamouli starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in Japan. The cast and crew arrived in Japan on release day. The film received similar reception in Japan as it did in India.
The film grossed 403 million yen at the Japanese box office. The film broke the Muthu film record in 55 days and created a new story. The RRR team had retweeted tweets from audiences who traveled more than 100km to see the film on their page.
Rajamouli’s Baahubali is the third highest grossing film in Japan. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s Muthu was released in 1995. Muthu is a remake of Malayalam film ‘Thenmavin Kompathi’. The film is directed by KS Ravikumar.
