Mumbai: Raj Kundra said that Bollywood actress and his wife Shilpa Shetty had told him that he would leave India when he was released from jail in the blue film making case. In an interview to the national media, Raj Kundra said that not only he but his wife and children were hunted and Shilpa’s support brought him back to life when he decided to end everything. The revelation comes at a time when Raj Kundra’s film ‘UT 69’, in which he acted, is about to release.
“My wife is the first to ask you if you want to live abroad. You were born and raised in London. He left everything there and came here for me. But Shilpa said if you want to leave the country then let’s go. But I told her that I love India and that’s why I don’t want to leave the country. The wrongdoers should leave the country. People commit big crimes and leave the country with crores. But I have not done anything wrong, that’s why I will not leave the country” – said Raj Kundra.
Talking about prison life, Kundra said that it was a very painful time. “I was really devastated. He thought of ending his life in prison. I don’t want to use that word today, but that was the case back then. Much insulted. Because of me, my wife, children and parents became victims of media hounding. It was absolutely painful. I knew exactly what was going on.
It was Shilpa who made me move forward. Once a week we could talk on the phone for a while. We also wrote texts. In the first phone call, she said that this is the current state of Raj, now I have to be more careful with every decision, trust me. That’s when I realized that life has to go on. She knows everything about me. Got a lot of support from her” – said Raj Kundra.
Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in July 2021 in connection with the manufacture and distribution of blue film. Kundra was released after two months in jail. The movie UT 69 is releasing on November 3.
