With the “Hoisting of the Great National Flag”, the activities to commemorate – on April 27 – the 97th anniversary of the Carabineros of Chile in the O’Higgins region, began formally, an event that included the presence of regional authorities and a military parade in the spaces of Plaza Los Héroes de Rancagua.
On this occasion, a delegation and training unit of Carabineros paid honor to the national flag, an activity led by General Max Jiménez Fleming; head of the Carabineros Zone; The presidential delegate, Fabio López Aguilera, also participated; Governor Pablo Silva Amaya; the prefect Inspector of the PDI, Julio Caro Barrera; the regional director(s) of the Gendarmerie, Lt. Colonel, Cristian Solís, among other personalities present.
Three officers carrying the national flag and under the intonation of the National Anthem, raised the flag, which will remain raised until the anniversary of the Carabineros de Chile.
At the end of the summarized event, General Max Jiménez considered that this activity has “a very special and painful nuance, due to the loss of Lieutenant Enmanuel Sánchez Soto, which hit them as an institution, as a country and all the citizens of Chile, who have “It has been shocking and strong.”
The raising of the national flag records the oath that the Carabineros took upon entering this police institution, to give their lives if necessary in self-defense and that of third parties, as has become evident with the death of Lieutenant Sánchez Soto.
“We will not give up and we will continue working hard alongside our authorities and for the benefit of the entire community against organized crime and delinquency, because they are not going to defeat us and we will never give up,” said Jiménez.
OS9 ALREADY HAS INVESTIGATIONS IN PROGRESS
Asked about the work being done in the newly launched specialized unit of the OS9 in the region, General Max Jiménez, reported that joint work is being done together with the Prosecutor’s Office in specific and highly complex cases, for which it was created, where the national director placed emphasis and gave approval for it to be created in the O’Higgins region.
He announced that this unit “already has ongoing investigations and is working hard on many cases alongside the Prosecutor’s Office.”
Regarding the investigations into the murder of Lieutenant Enmanuel Sánchez Soto, the Carabineros general announced that an operation is being carried out together with the Prosecutor’s Office in Santiago and with all the specialized agencies, where there was a point of interest in the commune of Graneros, for which in his opinion “this investigation is still ongoing, where there is a fairly important deployment at the national level, regarding the case of Lieutenant Enmanuel Sánchez.”
FABIO LÓPEZ: “CARABINEROS ARE WITH THE CITIZENS”
The presidential delegate, Fabio López Aguilera, indicated that as a government they have been supporting Carabineros de Chile from day one as an institution, which will reach a new anniversary on April 27, which is in an important reform process.
“Here are the Carabineros giving proof and attesting that they are together with the citizens,” said López, highlighting that this is a very symbolic republican act that represents the beginning of their anniversary month and that they will be present celebrating the religious ceremony in the cathedral and in the square.
He pointed out that as a government they are giving strong support to the Carabineros, which not only materializes in replenishing the vehicle fleet, but also in a series of actions that they have been carrying out in the last two years to the Carabineros of Chile.
