Even a savings bank has to make a profit. In this respect, an increase in fees is even understandable. But the way the bank is implementing this does not bode well.
There are good reasons to increase fees, even for a municipal savings bank that is committed to the common good and does not have to strive for profit maximization. But she has to make a profit in order to fulfill her tasks: granting loans to the local middle class, offering the needy an account for social participation. And every bank trainee learns that current accounts are not managed to cover costs anyway. In this respect, the increased fees that the Stadtsparkasse München wants to charge in the future are understandable in a certain way. An adaptation of the models offered to changed user behavior could also be explained plausibly.
