The Higher Population Council, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, implemented a series of awareness meetings within the Hussein labor and construction camps 2023, aimed at educating young men and women and enhancing their knowledge about the components of reproductive health, which include (gender, adolescence, sexually transmitted diseases, violence, preparation for marriage, family planning, childbirth safe and postpartum care, cancers of the male and female reproductive system, infertility, menopause), and familiarizing the participating young men and women with the electronic knowledge platform for youth reproductive health (Darbi); Established by the Higher Population Council with the support of the United Nations Population Fund, with the aim of raising health awareness among members of society, especially among young men and women, and improving their reproductive health, by providing an integrated package of information and data to enable them to make their informed decision regarding the elements of their reproductive health.
The Director of the Media and Communication Unit at the Higher Population Council, Ataf Al-Hadid, confirmed that the platform is a major source for providing data and information related to reproductive health, which was dealt with in a manner suitable for young men and women and all segments of society, indicating that the platform allows the possibility of asking any question that stops one of its visitors about topics related to reproductive health. And it is answered by a committee of experts with specialization, and then the answer is sent to the person concerned, so that the owners of these questions are dealt with in strict confidence.
The meetings included the implementation of a before and after competition for the participants on the electronic knowledge platform for reproductive health for young people (Darbi), and an introductory video presentation about the platform and the mechanism of its use by the developer of web applications and technical support in the council, Eng. Included in the platform and a video about the dialogue between children and parents about the stage of puberty and the accompanying changes in adolescents.
For his part, the Director of Youth Centers at the Ministry of Youth, Firas Al-Shawabkeh, appreciated the partnership with the Higher Population Council in implementing awareness programs on various reproductive health issues, which is an important axis that the Ministry was keen to include in addition to the programs of Al-Hussein labor and construction camps for this year, which is witnessing wide youth participation in All governorates of the Kingdom.
