Raised ground floor – architecture – Atuprix awarded

Seven buildings in the canton of Bern received a prize from the Bern Building Culture Award Foundation. The well-known jury selected them from 88 submitted projects.

Yesterday evening, the Bern Building Culture Award Foundation awarded the “Atuprix”. The well-known prize is awarded every three years. 88 projects had been submitted for this round and the jury nominated 13 of them for the shortlist. For the first time, the foundation exhibited these 13 projects in the public space of the cities of Bern, Thun, Biel, Burgdorf and Langenthal and people could choose them for the audience award.

The ten-member jury included architects Philipp Esch, Marianne Baumgartner and Maria Conen, landscape architect Massimo Fontana, sociologist Christina Schumacher, urban planner Han van de Wetering and SAM curator Andreas Ruby.

The audience award goes to:

– Conversion of the Burgdorf Castle; Client: Burgdorf Castle Foundation; Architecture and construction management: Atelier G + S, architects and planners, Burgdorf.

The following six buildings and systems receive an Atuprix:

– Houses with chambers and paths, Bern; Client: Fund for Land and Housing Policy of the City of Bern; Architecture: Atelier Scheidegger Keller, Zurich; Landscape architecture: Maurus Schifferli landscape architect, Bern

– Gruebi outdoor pool, Adelboden; Client: Municipality of Adelboden; Architecture / construction management: Akkurat Bauatelier, Thun; Landscape architecture: Duo landscape architects, Lausanne

– Gägger Steg, Rüschegg; Client: Association Gäggersteg, Friends of the Gantrisch Region, Schwarzenburg; Architecture: Patrick Thurston architecture firm, Bern; Wood engineering Indermühle
