Rainy Weather Promises Some Relief from Drought, But More Showers Expected

Today’s Daily Digit: 6/10

The weather today is rated a 6 out of 10. After a long period of dry weather, the morning will bring light showers followed by steady rain in the afternoon and evening. This rainfall is much needed to help alleviate the ongoing drought.

The forecast for today includes cloudy skies with light showers moving in from south to north between late morning and early afternoon. The rain will become steadier by mid-afternoon, with moderate to heavy rainfall at times into the evening. With the rain, clouds, and a cool breeze from the northeast, temperatures will remain in the mid-60s to near 70.

Tonight, the rain will continue, with moderate to heavy showers expected during the evening. The rain will become lighter and more intermittent after midnight, with rainfall totals likely around a half-inch to an inch by morning. Winds will remain breezy from the northeast, and temperatures will drop to the low 60s.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, there will be plenty of clouds, but the weather will not be as consistently wet as today. There may only be isolated showers during the morning and early afternoon. However, shower and thunderstorm chances will increase for the mid-afternoon into the evening as the air becomes more humid. Highs will reach the 70s with a steady breeze from the east.

Tomorrow night, scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are likely during the evening and overnight. The muggy air will prevent temperatures from dropping significantly, with lows only falling back to the mid-60s to near 70.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue at times on Friday and Saturday, with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Highs will range from the upper 70s to mid-80s, and it will remain humid. Friday and Saturday night lows will be in the upper 60s to near 70.

There is still a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday, although they may be less numerous than on Friday and Saturday. More breaks in the clouds on Sunday will lead to warmer temperatures, with highs likely in the mid-80s to near 90. The humidity will persist.

While the rainfall expected over the next few days will help alleviate the drought, it is still far from enough to reach near-normal levels for the year. However, it is a good start in the right direction. Stay updated on the latest weather information by following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
