The start of the work week in the tri-state area began with rain and cloudy skies, just in the morning rush hour when children are heading to schools and many to their workplaces. So area residents should prepare their umbrellas. Temperatures will be cooler due to that cloudiness.
This steady, light rain is expected to move eastward with the main threat from this precipitation remaining east of the city at midday. However, possible thunderstorms could reach the region in the late afternoon or evening.
Good morning everyone – Light to moderate rain continues to move across the area to start the day. The focus of the rain gradually shifts towards Long Island and southern Connecticut in the afternoon and evening. A rumble of thunder is possible. Dry conditions return tonight. pic.twitter.com/TmMXyKRd8Z

Skies will clear in the evening with temperatures in the 50s or 60s and the area is expected to have a pleasant last week of summer. So from Tuesday there will be dry temperatures, sunny and pleasant skies.
The first weekend of fall, however, won’t be ideal: We’ll be watching the progress of a developing low off the East Coast that could bring rain, rough surf and big waves Saturday through Sunday.
