Rainy Season Residents Must Be Aware Of Dengue

Temanggung, Media Center – The Temanggung Regency Government reminded residents to be aware of the possibility of an increase in cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) at the peak of the rainy season.

The Acting Head of the Temanggung District Health Office, Kristi Widodo, said that there was a trend of increasing dengue cases during the rainy season, so the Health Service reminded residents to improve personal and environmental hygiene.

“Residents must be diligent in their efforts to prevent the emergence and exposure of dengue fever,” said Kristri Widodo, Monday (17/1/2022).

He explained that the prevention of dengue fever can be overcome with 4M Plus which is carried out once a week, including draining water storage areas, closing all water storage areas, burying, and closing all used items that may be able to hold water.

In addition, residents must also diligently monitor all containers that can be used by mosquitoes to develop, for example Aedes Aegypti. Do not hang clothes for too long, keep larvae-eating fish, avoid mosquito bites and put abate.

“There is a trend of increasing dengue cases, residents must be aware of it with 4M plus,” he said.

Kristi said that dengue cases usually increase during the rainy season, especially at the peak of the rainy season which in Temanggung usually occurs in January and February.

He said the symptoms that would appear when exposed to DHF were marked by sudden fever, headache, pain behind the eyeball, nausea and bleeding manifestations, such as nosebleeds or bleeding gums and redness on the surface of the patient’s body.

In general, patients with DHF will experience a fever phase for 2-7 days, the first phase 1-3 days, the patient will feel a fever that is quite high at 40°C.

Then in the second phase, the patient experiences a critical phase on day 4-5, in this phase the patient will experience a decrease in fever to 37°C and the patient will feel able to carry out activities again (feel healed again) in this phase if they do not get adequate treatment. a fatal condition can occur, there will be a drastic decrease in platelets due to the breakdown of blood vessels (bleeding).

In the third phase will occur on days 6-7, the patient will feel the fever again, this phase is the recovery phase, in this phase the platelets will slowly rise, and return to normal.

He conveyed, if these symptoms arise to the doctor or hospital for treatment. (MC.TMG/ai;ekp)
