TANGERANG – Tangerang City Health Bureau (Dinkes) asked the public to be aware of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). This follows the arrival of the rainy season. In the rainy season like today, it is known that there are many places that have the potential to develop mosquitoes. This condition must be observed while maintaining health and hygiene.
Tangerang city health bureau chief Dr. Dini Anggraeni revealed that there has been a slight increase in cases so far, but not a significant spike. However, said Dr. Dini, vigilance is a concern for his party, because there is a fairly large movement of people during the Christmas and New Year holidays, who travel to their hometowns.
“This carries risks, or there are also people traveling on vacation to malaria-endemic areas. This disease is also transmitted by mosquitoes. This needs special attention, both supervised and guarded. With the current weather conditions, people should pay more attention to their health and immunity. Check yourself right away, if there is a high fever that goes up and down. Get tested immediately at the nearest health service,” advised Dr. Dini, on Monday (2/1/2023).
He also shared DHF prevention tips that people of Tangerang City can do. Among them, the installation of gauze or mosquito nets in the ventilation, whether on the ventilation doors or windows of the house, so that mosquitoes from outside do not enter the house. Secondly, install screens to prevent mosquitoes from sneaking in at dusk, when the mosquitoes start to come out.
“Third, protect yourself with mosquito repellent lotion or cream, if you can take it everywhere you go. Fourth, diligently drain the tub or bucket of water once a week, because it can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, because the Aedes aegypti mosquito can lay its eggs in the tub. Fifth, clean all containers that hold water to break the mosquito cycle, such as water dispensers, flower pots and so on,” Dr Dini explained.
He continued, Sixth, do not pile or hang clothes for too long, this causes mosquitoes to go down frequently because mosquitoes like human body odor. Seventh, plant anti-mosquito plants, such as lavender, mint, lemongrass persimmon.
“Make sure you maintain your immune system, so you don’t get sick easily, including dengue fever. Eat regularly and consume vitamins and minerals, for example from vegetables, fruits or dietary supplements. Apart from that, exercise regularly, for example 30 minutes per day, you can jog, cycle, and also make sure you get enough rest or sleep,” she advised.
