Rain of criticism of Casado for what he has said about Santiago de Compostela | Politics

The Popular Party is celebrating its party’s National Convention this week. This Monday the ‘popular’ leader, Pablo Casado, went to Santiago de Compostela to inaugurate the congress. He did so accompanied by the former president of the Government Mariano Rajoy and together with the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. For seven days Casado will meet with a dozen leaders of the PP from all over Spain. Its objective: to relaunch its leadership after the internal tensions of the last three weeks, after the announcement by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, that she aspires to preside over the PP of Madrid.

However, Casado has not started the Convention on the right foot, because in one of his speeches he said an outrage by assuring that Santiago de Compostela is the cradle of Western civilization, when history places it in Greece with the emergence of democracy, the Olympic Games or the importance of philosophy.

“What a joy to see us in Santiago de Compostela, the cradle of Western civilization, the crossroads to which our values have been pilgrimage, and the cradle of the Popular Party,” he said upon arriving at the National Convention that opened in Galicia. An error that users of social networks have not overlooked and that has cost Casado a barrage of criticism.

A user branded Casado’s comment as “idiocy” and snapped: “E“cradle of Western civilization” as if there were no Rome or Athens … Very ridiculous. “Another argued that aSomeone tell Casado “that he doesn’t have to try to put crap in every sentence.”

Even Isaías Lafuente, a collaborator of La Ventana, has commented on the slip of the PP leader and pointed out that “he has gobbled up some crib accounts and a few centuries of history.” “There is no worse compliment than the one that ends up looking like a caricature, “he concluded.
