As of 5:30pm on Saturday the 30th, rain clouds are forming from the front from northern Kyushu to Tohoku, and some rain clouds have developed in some areas. Atmospheric conditions will become extremely unstable from western Japan to northern Japan through October 1st (Sunday) due to the effects of fronts and low pressure systems. Be careful of thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong gusts of wind, and heavy rain.
Atmospheric conditions become extremely unstable over a wide area
A front will pass from western Japan to eastern Japan until October 1st (Sunday). In addition, a low pressure system accompanied by another front is expected to move northward over the Sea of Japan, and the front is expected to pass through northern Japan. Warm, humid air is expected to flow towards the low pressure system and front, and cold air of -6°C or lower is expected to flow into areas approximately 6,000 meters above western and eastern Japan, and cold air with temperatures below -15°C flow into areas approximately 5,500 meters above northern Japan. As a result, atmospheric conditions will be extremely unstable over a wide area from western Japan to northern Japan.

On October 1st (Sunday), there will be heavy rain and thunderstorms in some places until dawn in Kyushu, Chugoku, and Shikoku, and until morning in Kinki and Tokai. It looks like the weather will gradually become sunny during the day. The sun will shine in the Kanto region, but there will be rain and thunderstorms in places. Please be aware of sudden changes in the weather when enjoying outdoor leisure activities. From Hokuriku to Hokkaido, there will be intermittent rain and thunderstorms, mainly on the Japan Sea side, with some places experiencing thunder and heavy rain. There is a risk of heavy rain in the northern part of Hokkaido on the Sea of Japan side, so please be careful of landslides, flooding of low-lying areas, and rising river levels.
What is heavy rain?
Heavy rain refers to rain with an hourly rainfall of more than 30 mm and less than 50 mm. This is an image of rain falling like an overturned bucket.
