Rain Can’t Stop New Yorkers from Celebrating Cuban and Hispanic American Culture at Annual Parade

Despite the rain, hundreds of New Yorkers actively participate this Sunday in the Cuban and Hispanic American Parade in Manhattan, which this year pays special tributes to some of the island’s most renowned artists.

This year the event pays tribute to the queen of salsa Celia Cruz who left this world 20 years ago. The mayor of New York, Eric Adams, has decreed Celia Cruz Day in this city. The 50 years of artistic life of singer-songwriter Willy Chirino are also celebrated.

Bárbara Cambón, president of the parade, said that the purpose of the event is to highlight Cuban and Latin American culture.

Present were artists of the stature of the musician Paquito D’Rivera who felt honored to be invited to the festival.
