Raimonds Vipulis and Valda Vasariete will become Latvian champions in 100 squares

The 2021 Latvian Checkers 100 Checkers Championship has ended with the victories of Raimonds Vipulis and Valdis Vasariete. The best players from the selection tournament, as well as the winners of the 2020 championships, participated in the Latvian championship finals, which took place according to the ring system.

The international grandmaster Raimonds Vipulis, who is the finalist of this year’s World Championship, as well as a multiple Latvian champion, won the men’s tournament with 17 points out of 22 possible, while the young talented player Gunārs Gribuška won second place with 14 points. now added a silver medal. Renard Helfreht, a representative of Sigulda Sports School, won the bronze medal in a fierce battle, gaining 12 points.

Valda Vasariete, who is a multiple winner of the Latvian Youth Championship, won 11 of 14 possible points in the women’s tournament and her first Latvian women’s champion title in her career. The silver medal with 10 points was won unexpectedly by the new player Viktorija Nesanira, who beat last year’s champion Anna Krapivina during the tournament and rose from the seventh place in the Latvian championship to the second place this year, while the bronze medal went to Alisa Orlova, who won 9 points.
