The Maestro sheet music library surprises with musical finds from the time when the composer himself created his first pop tunes. The concert will also feature the musical canons of Raimonds Pauls.
“We have Christmas in this room format this year – everyone finds something they have played or maybe forgotten well, I will wipe the dust off the oboe box,” says singer Daumants Kalnins about the new program. Its basic idea is coziness and family reunion. Everyone in the program participates – Maestro at the piano, experienced Paul arranger Raimonds Macats plays the cello again, Oskars Sproģis – amusing bass guitar, but Artis Orubs will also whistle the rhythm.
Maestro Raimonds Pauls admits that it is no longer possible to count which Christmas concert program he already has. They are “from the days before they were officially celebrated.” “In fact, we made the first Christmas program with the boys’ choir, it was the first program on television, it can be watched to this day,” says Maestro.
“I always try to find Maestro music that speaks to me with something special, and in this concert too – thinking about this, as I call it,”camera room music ”- wanted some songs from his childhood,” says Daumants Kalniņš about the choice of the program. It will be a festive conversation in the language of music, also about the time when Raimonds Pauls brought his first song “Unsent Letter” to the radio 65 years ago. Daumants Kalniņš says: “I am also interested in the beginnings of Maestro’s career, his first compositions. This is the time when Frank Sinatra didn’t know he was singing “New York, New York,” it’s the era of the 1950s! “
