The countdown is running. The Nidder stage is in the final stages of rehearsals for their new play. On October 28, the curtain rises on the main stage in the Willi-Salzmann-Halle for Winnie Abel’s comedy “There’s no train going to somewhere”. “There are a total of five performances, four of them in Nidderau and one in the Comoedienhaus Hanau-Wilhelmsbad,” informs Martina Sonntag-Blättermann.
Nidderau – She plays and directs together with Andy Henschel. The play by playwright and television journalist Winnie Abel is more relevant than ever in view of delays, train cancellations, defective toilets and air conditioning systems or broken down locomotives on the Deutsche Bahn in the middle of a route.
Railway odyssey in three acts
In three acts, the ensemble takes its viewers into a turbulent story that train travelers could experience anywhere, anytime. The linchpin of the train adventure is the unscheduled stop of the ICE 6948. Passengers and spectators are left behind in a desolate provincial train station. With no cell phone reception, no taxis, no prospect of continuing the journey.
All the travelers, including an American backpacker played by Timon Schlesag and three clumsy bowling sisters on a trip played by Sabine Tschischka, Elke Rink and Christel Reitmeir-Goeddel, have urgent appointments and want to get away from this inhospitable place as soon as possible . Instead, a policewoman (Gertrud Nowak) comes by and informs them that there may be a wanted psychopath among the passengers. The policewoman wants to bring this to Offenbach.

The travelers named also include a harried businesswoman (Dagmar Waag), an idiosyncratic conspiracy theorist (Denis Kadiric), a wacky motivational speaker (Daniela Boss) and a tramp (Evelyn Diegel). The stranded travelers are creative and come up with tiny ways to get away. The situation comes to a head and an incredibly funny nervous chaos takes its course. For the first time there are six new actors on stage in this comedy. They include Denis Kadiric, Sabine Tschischka, Elke Rink and Daniela Boss as well as Timon Schlesag and Marie Doleczik-Noelle, up-and-coming actors from the ranks of the Nidderstars, the youth group of the Nidder stage. Karina Hamsen got her first job at the theater as a prompter. Set construction, organization, stage design, costumes, make-up, set-up and dismantling is carried out by the board and the actors.
“It’s a nice hobby for everyone, but also a time-consuming one,” say the members of the Nidder stage. Timon Schlesag is 15 years young and is in the ninth grade at the Bertha von Suttner School. “I started doing children’s theater in fifth grade at school. I love slipping into different roles and would like to become an actor.” Besides acting, Timon Schlesag has other hobbies. He is a member of the Wartbaum scout tribe, sings in the Nidderau singers’ association and is a team leader in his confirmation group. He and all the other “travellers” of the train odyssey are looking forward to welcoming many spectators.
