On the occasion of various statements that try to downplay the role of the railways and attribute to them responsibilities that they do not have for the state of the Greek trains or the crime of Tempe, the Federation issued a statement reminding them that “throughout the years it has been sounding the alarm to all directions (administrations, governments, parties, media), sending extrajudicial notices, press releases and letters”.
“Unfortunately, in the last period of time we have all witnessed a targeted attempt to slander the employees of the Railway” notes the Panhellenic Federation of Railways and Fixed Track Vehicles (POS-MST) which is in favor of a “public, safe and quality railway” and stresses that “no was never hidden from anyone. And this she will continue to do, even if her efforts continue to fall on deaf ears.”

In order to restore the truth, we emphasize once again that the Panhellenic Federation of Railways and Fixed-Track Means has been sounding the alarm over time in all directions (Administrations, Governments, Parties, M.M.E.), sending press releases, announcements, bulletins press, letters protesting AGAINST the non-compliance with the project schedules, AGAINST the necessity of security in transport, AGAINST the shrinking of the network but also AGAINST the underfunding of so many years which brought about “discounts” in safety.
The Panhellenic Federation of Railways and Fixed Track Vehicles has never been hidden from anyone. And this she will continue to do, even if her efforts continue to fall on deaf ears.
The Federation – as an institution – was and is present, on the side of the Railways, demonstrating the injustices and the bad words against them. Many times we have been forced to go to court, exercising every available remedy in order to protect our colleagues, but also the passenger public, which is our greatest concern.
But and because we are not all the same despite our honorable efforts we cannot eliminate individual cases or minorities of colleagues who may not be consistent with their profession and the principles and values with which the Federation is concerned. Of course, they are solely responsible for these behaviors and not the trade union movement or the workers as a whole.
For our part, we repeat our invitation to all Administrations for an undivided effort for the smooth operation of the Railway.
This is the demand of workers and passengers.
Our only demand is a Public, Safe, Quality Railway”.
