Third storm “Antonia”

Rail traffic is still limited – no problems with S-Bahn and U-Bahn
The Berlin S-Bahn is running again and the regional trains are also on the move, although not on all routes. The BVG traffic also runs almost without problems. There are still train cancellations in long-distance traffic.

After numerous problems in local public transport as well as in regional and long-distance rail transport in connection with the three storm lows, events are increasingly normalizing. The Berlin S-Bahn has reported trouble-free operation since Monday morning. “We got off to a good start on Monday morning. S-Bahn traffic is running without restrictions,” said S-Bahn spokeswoman Sandra Spieker rbb|24.

BVG reports smooth operation
The BVG also reported smooth operation on Monday morning. “Buses, trams and subways are on the move regularly. There are almost no restrictions,” said BVG spokesman Markus Falkner rbb | 24 on Monday morning. The current storm “Antonia” is almost irrelevant. There are still diversions on some bus lines because storm damage has not yet been repaired.
In connection with “Antonia”, only one bus line (N22) had to be diverted on Monday night because of a fallen tree in Konradshöhe. There are currently diversions on a few lines due to older storm damage that has not yet been repaired. This applies to lines 123, 133 and the night lines N6 and N23. The Samoastrasse stop on line 142 cannot yet be reached.

Regional trains traveling at a reduced speed
Regional rail traffic in Berlin and Brandenburg, on the other hand, continues to be affected. There were no regional trains between Potsdam and Michendorf (RB23) and Prenzlau and Angermünde (RE3). Emergency bus services have been set up on line RE3. Passengers on line RB23 should switch to bus line 643.
According to a railway spokeswoman, there are delays on other lines. Because of the strong wind, the trains would run at a reduced speed. In addition, reconnaissance trips would be carried out in the region and minor disruptions would be eliminated immediately. The train crews had chainsaws on board on their reconnaissance trips, the spokeswoman said on Monday morning.
According to the Deutsche Bahn, it assumes that the storms of the past few days will have an impact on rail traffic in Berlin and Brandenburg until Tuesday. On some lines, the clearance work would probably last until Wednesday, according to the Deutsche Bahn website. However, regional traffic did not have to be stopped during the night due to the storm “Antonia”, as initially feared.

No trains from Berlin to Rostock/Stralsund
Long-distance traffic is also still affected: there are no trains between Berlin and Rostock/Stralsund. In addition, there are no trains between Hamburg and Rostock/Stralsund, Norddeich Mole/Emden and Cologne or Siegen and Dortmund. According to Deutsche Bahn, a total of more than 6,000 kilometers of the German route network were temporarily unusable after the stormy days that have passed. Around 2,000 emergency services are on the move around the clock to remove fallen trees and repair overhead lines.
Current travel information and traffic reports are available on the Deutsche Bahn website: bahn.de.
On the lines operated by the Ostdeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft (ODEG), the trains are to company disclosures [odeg.de] on the road again as planned from Monday.

Bahn has extended goodwill rules
After the train cancellations in connection with the hurricanes “Ylenia” and “Zeynep”, the railway has extended the goodwill rules. Long-distance tickets for the period from February 17 to 21 can either be used flexibly up to and including February 28 or canceled free of charge. The train connection for saver fares and super saver fares has been lifted. For information about the validity of tickets already purchased, the company refers to the “special goodwill regulations” [bahn.de].
