Rail traffic on the Zurich HB – Olten route is restricted between Zurich Altstetten and Schlieren.

The reason for this is an external event, as the SBB reports. The restriction will last until around 11:00 a.m.

“Wild and lively rivers and streams have become extremely rare in Switzerland. Most watercourses have been straightened, canalized, or broken up and fragmented by weirs and dams. Only 3.5% are still in a natural state,” writes WWF Switzerland, adding: “Water bodies are incredibly important for biodiversity in Switzerland. They are our ‘rainforests’ and thus real biodiversity hotspots. 80 percent of animal and plant species in Switzerland occur in and around water bodies.”
