Rail traffic between Bergen op Zoom and Roosendaal will remain blocked until Friday | NOW

Rail traffic between Bergen op Zoom and Roosendaal will remain blocked until Friday morning. This was announced Tuesday by the railway operator ProRail to NU.nl. Due to a collision with an empty bus on Monday, no trains can run on that route at the moment. Both the track and the level crossing were severely damaged.

“We have to replace 300 meters of rail,” says the spokesperson. “A lot of sleepers have been damaged. They all need to be checked. And we need to install a new level crossing. The whole process takes longer.”

Rail traffic to and from Roosendaal is expected to resume at 07:00 on Friday. Initially expected ProRail that the problems would be resolved within three days. Rail traffic between Bergen op Zoom and Vlissingen is largely resumed.

On passing Bergen op Zoom, a train collided with a bus stopped on the platform on Monday. The bus had technical problems. No one was injured in the accident. The bus was empty at the time of the accident. The driver had already jumped out of the vehicle. Everyone on the train was also unharmed.
