Deutsche Bahn passengers in North Rhine-Westphalia have to be prepared for numerous train cancellations and delays this Wednesday and Thursday. An overview of regional transport.
Deutsche Bahn has called on its customers to postpone trips in light of the warning strike by the German Locomotive Drivers’ Union. “The GDL strike caused by November 15th. evening until November 16th inclusive. Massive disruption to DB’s long-distance, regional and S-Bahn traffic nationwide,” the company wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Please postpone your trips.”
The GDL has called on its members to go on a warning strike on the railways from Wednesday evening at 10 p.m. to Thursday evening at 6 p.m.
On Zuginfo.nrw was informed on Wednesday morning about failures and restrictions in regional transport in North Rhine-Westphalia. Regional lines that run via Düsseldorf, Wuppertal and Krefeld are among those affected.
Due to the strike by the GDL union, there will be “massive timetable changes in S-Bahn, regional and long-distance transport” from November 15, 2023, 10 p.m. to November 16, 2023, 6 p.m. (as of 8:30 a.m., November 15, 2023).
The following RE lines do not operate:
- RE 8: Mönchengladbach Hbf – Koblenz Hbf
- RE 9: Aachen – Win
- RE 10: Düsseldorf – via Krefeld and Kempen – Kleve. The trains are canceled. A rail replacement service is being planned
- RE 12 / 22: Euskirchen – Cologne
- RE 14: Essen-Steele – Borken The trains are canceled. A rail replacement service is being planned
- RE 16: Essen Hbf – Iserlohn Hbf, a rail replacement service between Letmathe – Hagen – Bochum has been set up.
- RE 42: Münster – Essen (the long-distance route runs between Münster and Mönchengladbach)
- RE 44: Moers – Bottrop Hbf The trains are canceled. A rail replacement service is being planned

According to Zuginfo, the mobility guarantee in North Rhine-Westphalia is suspended during the strike period.
