Rail Passengers to Experience Delays and Adjusted Timetables: NS Maintenance Work Updates

In August and early September, rail passengers will have to deal with extra travel time. During three different weeks, maintenance is carried out on the track. As a result, the NS will run with an adjusted timetable for a week. The other two weeks, the NS will deploy buses that will take travelers to the closed stations.

The work will start from next Monday morning, then work will be carried out until August 12 on the route where the trains run between Schiphol Airport and Lelystad Center. The Dutch Railways runs an adjusted timetable here. There does not seem to be any delays during this period.

There will then be work on the track between Weesp and Almere Oostvaarders from 12 to 17 August. To still transport passengers to the intermediate stations, the NS uses stop and express buses. Nevertheless, the railway company asks travelers to take into account an extra travel time of more than thirty minutes on this route.

Furthermore, from August 22 to September 4, work is planned on the route between Almere Oostvaarders and Dronten. The work is in the aftermath of the short circuit in the overhead lines that occurred in September of 2022. As a result, no trains could be used between Dronten and Lelystad from September 2022 to December 15, 2022. According to the NS, the intermediate stations can be reached by using stop buses. Travelers can board at the stations of Almere Oostvaarders, Lelystad Center and Dronten. However, they must expect a delay of up to thirty minutes.

NS advice
NS advises people traveling on these routes during these periods to check the NS travel planner for the most up-to-date travel advice as close as possible to the departure time and date.
