Raiffeisenbank Glarnerland Introduces ECO Discount for Sustainable Building and Renovation Projects

Customers of Raiffeisenbank Glarnerland will now receive an interest rate reduction on their mortgage if they build or renovate their property sustainably. For example, building/renovating according to the MINERGIE standard or having a valid GEAK building energy certificate are rewarded. But anyone who wants to replace their fossil fuel heating system with a renewable heating system (e.g. heat pump, district or solar heating, wood) or install a photovoltaic or solar thermal system can now benefit from the interest rate reduction on the mortgage.

The ECO discount is applicable to various mortgage models. You can choose from a fixed-rate mortgage, a SARON Flex mortgage or a variable mortgage.

Depending on the choice of mortgage model, different risk considerations arise. A fixed-rate mortgage ensures that the interest rate remains the same throughout the entire term and helps with precise budgeting. After expiry, however, home financing must be reorganized at the applicable market interest rates. When taking out a SARON Flex mortgage, the customer bears the interest rate risk: you benefit from falling interest rates, but you also have to accept rising SARON interest rates. With a variable mortgage, the interest rate can fluctuate. However, it always corresponds to the usual market rates. In addition, you can easily and quickly switch to a different mortgage model while adhering to the notice period.

The easiest way to find out which model suits you best is to speak to a consultant. For an overview of all mortgage models and to make an appointment online, go to www.raiffeisen.ch/glarnerland.

Minergie is a quality label for new buildings and modernized old buildings. The GEAK building energy certificate of the cantons shows how much energy a residential building requires for heating, hot water, lighting and other electrical consumers when used in a standardized manner. The “renewable heating” program from EnergieSchweiz supports the building owner in replacing the heating system and the Swissolar industry association helps with all the important information about solar energy.
