Year after year, Raiffeisen strengthens its position in the Swiss mortgage market. In 2023, mortgage debts increased by a further 3.6% to reach 211 billion francs, the cooperative group indicated on Thursday when publishing its annual results. Its market share increased slightly, from 17.6 to 17.8%, which corresponds to its ambition to grow at approximately the same rate as the market.
The takeover of Credit Suisse by UBS did not fundamentally change the situation. Despite the emergence of such a powerful competitor, Raiffeisen came to the conclusion that it did not intend to change its strategy. “The diversity of the offer is high and competition continues to play a role, even with one less supplier. Our position on the mortgage market remains unchanged,” said Romain Thalmann, head of Raiffeisen’s French-speaking headquarters, at a press conference in Lausanne.
