Raids in Limburg, Brabant and Belgium during drug research: ten arrests

As part of a major drug investigation, the police raided homes and warehouses in Limburg, Brabant and Belgium this morning. Ten suspects were arrested for trafficking in and production of synthetic drugs.

The police tracked down the suspects by hacking encrypted messaging services such as EncroChat, Sky ECC and Anom. 170 agents of the Belgian and Dutch police were involved in the raids and searches.

In total, the police raided ten homes, six of which were in Weert and the others in Maastricht, Roermond, Heerlen and Belgium. Six sheds were also searched in Someren, Maastricht and Weert.

Drug lab

A large amount of money was found and seized by the police in one of the homes in Weert. It is not clear how much money is involved.

In the Limburg village of Grevenbicht, the police found a lab where synthetic drugs were produced. The lab was still in operation at the time of the raid 1Limburg. Three people present were arrested.

Raw materials, intermediates and finished products found there have been seized. “An investigation must show which substances are involved, as well as the exact amount,” the police said.
