Raiders miss playoffs after defeat

The Raiders Tirol have to admit defeat to the Munich Ravens with 3:30 in the last round of the regular season of the European League of Football (ELF).

The team around head coach Jim Herrmann finished the season with eight wins from twelve games, but missed out on a place in the playoffs due to the loss to the division rival from the Central Conference.

For the Tyroleans, the direction of travel on the rainy afternoon was already announced in the first drive: Cinque Sweeting allowed a fumble, but despite winning the ball, the Munich hosts failed to convert the field goal attempt that followed shortly afterwards.

The Raiders only scored points in the first quarter. Darragh Leader scored a field goal for the Austrians.

Ravens roll over Raiders

From the second quarter onwards, the southern Germans took control. First, Etuale Lui scored the touchdown, and after the successful PAT, the score was 7:3 from the hosts’ perspective.

Running back Oyewo increased the score to 14:3 before the break. Justin Rodney underlined the offensive strength of the Munich team with an 80-yard touchdown. The third quarter ended with another field goal at 24:3.

In the final quarter, Oyewo lets the home fans cheer again with a touchdown, the 3:30 defeat of the Raiders means the second missed playoff place in the ELF.
