Rai would be ready to leave the historic studio of Dancing with the Stars

From next year Rai could give up a piece of its recent history, theAuditorium of the Foro Italico, a structure that has hosted some of the main prime time productions since the 1990s and has always been the home of Dancing with the Stars. From next year, however, the upper floors of Viale Mazzini would be ready to abandon their Roman studies next year due to a savings operation.

The indiscretion comes from La Repubblica, which leaks some indiscretions from the Ministry of Economy which controls the company that owns the structure, Sport and Health. The problem lies precisely in the rental costs that Rai has to bear, 850 thousand euros per year, which become more than double, 1.8 million euros, if we consider the management and production costs. The intent of the company would therefore be to withdraw from the contract that would have lasted another 6 years and transfer the production to another suitable structure, aiming at halving costs.

Not only Dancing with the Stars, over the years many historical Rai programs have been broadcast from the Auditorium of the Foro Italico initially used as a concert hall, as the seat of the Symphony Orchestra of Rome. The first program ever was Soundtrack ’90 – 8th Festival Musica da Film, in 1990. Then it was the scene of all editions of Carramba – it is no coincidence that there are those who call it the “Raffaella auditorium” – to then be the fixed location of the marathon Telethon and other major productions of recent years such as I leave you a song e The best years.

In this anomalous year, marked by the Covid emergency and the absence of the public, precisely a Dancing with the Stars has been fine-tuned the Remote Audience, a mechanism that allows the presence of the public to be recreated in the studio thanks to the help of technology.
