Rai National Symphony Orchestra: Performance of Stravinsky’s ‘Le sacre du printemps’ & More at Arturo Toscanini Auditorium

From the Arturo Toscanini Auditorium in Turin, the Rai National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Robert Trevino, performs – in the April 2023 concert re-proposed on Friday 30 June at 21.15 on Rai 5 – “Le sacre du printemps” (The spring festival ), the ballet by Igor Stravinskij, which forever marked the way we perceive art, definitively changing the notion of beauty. To follow, another page of the great Russian composer, “Symphony for Wind Instruments”, written in 1920, a tribute to the memory of Claude Debussy, who died two years earlier.
The program is completed by the Concerto for viola and orchestra by Alfred Schnittke, which this year marks the 25th anniversary of his death. Written in 1985 and dedicated to the Russian violist Yuri Bashmet, the Concerto was first performed in 1986 by Bashmet himself with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam conducted by Lucas Vis. Soloist for the Rai Orchestra concert is the French violist Antoine Tamestit, considered one of the greatest violists in the world. TV direction by Rossella De Bonis.
