Since 2016, the Rai license fee has been paid through thedirect debit on the electricity bill in monthly installments. This, as it is easy to guess, was decided with the aim of preventing many taxpayers from not paying the tax in question. At the basis of this measure, as already mentioned, there is the presumption that in the homes of families with an electrical user connected there is at least one television. At the same time, thanks to the use of special applications, it is also possible to watch Rai programs from smartphones, tablets or PCs.

A possibility, the latter, which did not go unnoticed in the eyes of theto Rai Carlo Fuortes which in this regard has proposed extending the payment of the fee to such devices as well. In fact, speaking at the Supervisory Commission on 12 October, the Chief Executive Officer of Rai drew attention to the fact that investments are at risk if there is no guarantee of resources. Regarding the latter, in particular, he complained about the lack of resources coming from taxpayers.

In his opinion, if it was true that the charge in the bill made it possible to reduce tax evasion from 27% to 3%, on the other hand the fee was reduced in a more than proportional way, bringing it down to the current 90 euros. . But not only that, Fuortes underlined how the RAI fee is affected by the higher deductions through the concession tax. Exactly for this reason only 86% of the amount paid by users reaches the company coffers.

At the moment, as already mentioned, it is only a proposal and nothing has yet been decided in this regard. All that remains is to wait and see if the payment of the Rai license fee will be extended to mobile devices or not.
