The most hated ninety euros of all. Yet the RAI license is paid without objecting, because of renouncing television services. It is true, with the most recent technological devices, in hindsight, the TV could be a superfluous tool. But the connections are increasingly refined between various smartphones and TV makes the latter something still extremely functional for our domestic entertainment. After all, even enjoying a TV series on a respectable screen is definitely another thing.

The binomial television-Rai license therefore remains an established fact. And the fact that, theoretically, the public network services can also be accessed via various smartphones, iPhones and iPads, has attracted the attention of the RAI administration in recent weeks. The CEO of the Group, Carlo Fuortes, comparing the amount of the tax with that of other European countries, made the proposal to extend the effects of the fee to mobile devices as well. Hypothesis which, of course, did not fail to provoke certain reactions.

The problem would be to be found in the revenues of Italian public television. Which, according to the CEO, with respect to the commitments undertaken would not have been congruous. The figure would be 792 million euros less, so much so that it has requested intervention from the Government. Not only in order to broaden the shadow of the Rai Canon, but also to adapt to European standards. To date, as mentioned, the tax on the national television network stands at 90 euros, divided into several invoices attached to the electricity bill. However, figures below European standards. However, this did not protect her from repeated criticism.

Imagine if it were to be hijacked on smartphones and tablets. At the moment, this provision is not foreseen but, according to the CEO of the Rai Group, it could be a good solution to stay on the waterline. The Rai license fee is currently due only once per family. Which means, even in the presence of several televisions, the tax will always be paid once a year. That is why such a principle should also apply to mobile devices. So, paid only once in general and not for each device. At the moment, however, the hypothesis has not been very successful. Not even at institutional levels.
