The Rai license fee will be paid for the last year through the electricity bills. Here is the payment schedule
The Rai license fee is the tax payable for owning a television or other device equipped with tuner. It is a kind of tax disguised as a tax on the possession of an asset. In essence, in fact, taxpayers pay a tax in exchange for the service rendered by state television.
2022 will be the last year in which payment is made as an attachment to the electricity bill. In fact, the European Commission intervened on the matter, finding an inconsistency between the modality of payment chosen by Italy and the treaties also signed by Italy itself regarding the rules of competition and the European market.
Rai license fee, payments in 2022
In 2023 it will be goodbye to the installments of the Rai license fee in the bill. However, this modality is still in effect in 2022. Payments, in fact, are made in installments depending on the frequency of issue of the bill of theelectric energy. Usually the electricity bill is on a bimonthly basis.

In this case, which is the most widespread, taxpayers will pay the Rai license fee of 90 euros divided over five bimonthly installments and 18 euro each. Basically, in every electricity bill, starting from the first issue of 2022, in addition to the energy consumption, 18 euros will be added, equivalent to the installment of the Rai fee.

So, to give an example, if the first reference bill in the first two months of 2022 reaches march, the last installment of the fee will arrive as an attachment to the November electricity bill. The timing changes according to the period in which each user receives billing from the electricity service management company.
There are two cases of exemption from paying the tax on possession of the television. It is about the taxpayers who have made 75 years of age and which fall within a certain capital limit Isee of 8,000 euros. The application must be submitted to the Revenue Agency by May 2 to obtain the total cut.
