Michele Guardì, Rai prepares measures after the riots
It’s a hurricane that doesn’t stop, the one that hit the historic Rai author Michele Guardì on Tuesday evening. The outbursts broadcast by Le Iene – with insulting expressions such as “but take it away, I’m a fucking s**t”, “bitch”, or “sick dog” – have aroused a lot of controversyeven more so because Guardì didn’t really apologize, but instead tried in every way to minimize what happened. Rai is But taking the matter very seriouslyas demonstrated by the recent request made by the board member (PD share) Francesca Bria.
“The investigations have begun of competence” wrote Bria, “and, as a result, all the sanctions envisaged to protect the corporate image were adopted”. The president of the Rai Supervisory Commission also joined the chorus of protests, Barbara Florida (M5S), which asked the leaders of Viale Mazzini to “take a position” on “disrespectful phrases, at any time they were uttered, incompatible with public service”. Guardì had in fact defended himself by claiming that the offending crimes dated back to several years ago. “These are old things”, the author had said, “It’s specious…in 5,600 episodes you can say inappropriate things in the certainty of not being listened to.”
Michele Guardì’s defense
And while waiting for Rai to announce any measures, Michele Guardì he turned to Libero to forcefully plead his case. “Whoever broadcast these audios”, explained the Rai director, “incorrectly made some bad jokes, for which I apologized at the time and for which I still apologize today, which they date back fourteen years”. Then he added: “They took this old stuff to apply it to what’s happening now, to the debate on gender discrimination. If you’ll allow me, I think this is a journalistically incorrect attitude”. And finally Guardì concluded with a heavy accusation: “The attack they are directing at me is specious, there is some instigator behind it”.
