Rahmat Erwin Achieves a Total Force of 342 Kg at the Tokyo Olympics

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Indonesian lifter Rahmat Erwin Abdullah managed to do a total lift of 342kg in the men’s 73kg class in Group B Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Wednesday (28/7).

Rahmat won the first position in Group B after doing a total of 342kg with details, snatch 152kg and clean and jerk 190kg.

Rahmat has a 22kg lead over his closest competitor, Jorge Adan Cardenas Estrada from Mexico, with a total lift of 320kg. While the third place belongs to the representative of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Alhumayd Mahmoud with a total force of 306kg.

Rahmat started the competition at the Tokyo International Forum quite convincingly after successfully carrying out a 142kg snatch.

The 20-year-old athlete then managed to sharpen it up to 147kg on the second try and managed to shoot up to 152kg on the third attempt. This figure is the highest compared to other contestants in Group B.

In the clean and jerk, Rahmat also successfully lifted 180kg in the first attempt. He then failed to make the second attempt but managed to improve his record on the third try to 190kg.

This result makes Rahmat have the opportunity to win a medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. However, the total force still has to compete with the final results from Group A, which competed a few hours after Group B ended.

Rahmat himself only set a target for the top eight at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This was Rahmat’s first experience performing at the biggest sporting event.
