Rahman supported the film I was going to do with Lal and Rahman because of that director: Sibi Malail
CB Malayalam is one of the best directors in Malayalam. He made his directorial debut with the film Mutharam Kunn PO
CB Malayil had to wait a long time for his dream of a debut film. He has worked as a co-director with directors like Jijo Punnoos, Bhadran and others with Cinema Moh. CB Malal tells about the first film to be produced with Mohanlal and Rahman as heroes.
CB Malal says that Rahman backed out of his film after hearing the director’s words at that time and Mohanlal was busy with another film at that time so the film was shelved. He was talking to Mathruthumi Grihalakshmi Magazine.
I nominated Raghunath Paleri for the story. Raghu created a story with Mohanlal, Rahman and Rohini in mind. At that time, Lal was on the sets of the film Kannum Nutt at Noketadura. He went there and told the matter to Lal. He also went to the place in Ambalapuzha and met Rahman.
Lal was busy with another project when the film was about to start. I left the manager to Rahman. I don’t know anything about cinema, so the director of the film, in which I was involved, told Rahman that it is better to withdraw from my film. So Rahman went back.
I started to get frustrated again. Everyone left. But don’t worry. Make a movie of your favorite story with whoever you want, and the producer still stood by me assuring me that I will do it. It was a powerful force.
So I started watching a new story. I know Jagadish from Priyan’s films. Jagadish said he had a story in hand and Srinivasan liked that story. And that is what eventually became my first film, Mutharam Kunn PO,’ says CB Malal.
