East Jakarta Police Arrest 10 Suspects in Fatal Mob Attack on Rahmad Vaisandri
In a tragic turn of events, the East Jakarta Metro Police have apprehended 10 individuals involved in the fatal mobbing of Rahmad Vaisandri, a 29-year-old man accused of theft. The incident, which occurred in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, has sparked widespread concern and calls for justice.
According too Commissioner Nicolas Ary Lilipaly, Chief of the East Jakarta Metro police, the altercation began on October 20, 2024, when a construction worker at a shophouse project site reported the theft of his wallet and mobile phone. The worker alerted his colleagues, leading to the apprehension of Vaisandri, who was accused of the crime.
“That on October 20, 2024, around the early morning, there was an event that was allegedly theft of cellphones and wallets at the scene,” Nicolas stated during a press briefing at the Jakarta Metro Police on Monday, February 3, 2025.
The situation escalated when the construction workers allegedly subjected Vaisandri to a brutal beating. “That after the friends of the construction workers woke up, then they secured the perpetrators and then they carried out beatings or beating together and resulted in the death of the victim on October 24, 2024, at the National Police Hospital,” Nicolas explained.
Vaisandri, described as a stranger at the construction site, was taken to the police station in a coma at 05.00 WIB on the day of the incident. He was afterward transferred to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, where he underwent surgery on October 21, 2024. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries three days later.
“on Thursday, October 24, 2024, around 08.00 WIB, Brother RV was declared dead,” Nicolas confirmed.
The police have since detained 10 suspects, including nine civilians and one member of the National police, identified as Bripka O, who was reportedly working as a security guard at the construction site.

So we decide to be separate detention, to avoid things that are not expected.”
The suspects, identified by their initials—H, AAB, S, MM, WA, Y, IS, PA, SF, and Bripka O—were arrested at different times throughout January 2025. The first four detainees, H, AAB, S, and MM, were taken into custody on January 10, followed by WA and Y on January 21. Three more suspects, IS, PA, and SF, were detained on January 29, and the final suspect, O, was arrested on January 31.

The suspects are being charged under Article 170 of the Criminal Code and Article 351 paragraph 3 of Law Number 1 of 1946, which pertain to beating and severe persecution. Nicolas explained, “The article we wear in this event is the beating article and or the article on severe persecution, namely Article 170 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 351 paragraph 3 of law Number 1 of 1946, namely Criminal Law.”
