Rahm wins individual ranking of the LIV Tour

Two-time major winner Jon Rahm won the individual ranking of the controversial LIV Tour in his first season. The triumph in the tournament series for professional golfers financed by Saudi Arabia earned the Spaniard the equivalent of almost 16.2 million euros.

With Rahm’s victory at the tournament in Chicago, his second of the season, he relegated Joaquin Niemann (Chile) to second place in the overall rankings. The 29-year-old has finished in the top ten in each of the last eleven tournaments. The previous titles of “Individual Champion” went to the Americans Dustin Johnson (2022) and Talor Gooch (2023).

Last December, the fifth-place finisher at the Olympics switched from the traditional PGA Tour to the LIV Tour, causing quite a stir. According to media reports, this deal was worth around half a billion euros for the former world number one. Recently, however, rumors have been circulating about a return to the US tour.

Next weekend, the LIV Tour Team Championships will be held in Dallas, where Rahm and his team “Legion XIII” also still have a chance of winning the title. Their biggest competitor is US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau and his team “Crushers GC”.
