TANGERANG SELATAN, KOMPAS.com – South Tangerang deputy mayor candidate Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo (Sara) admitted to being harassed in the 2020 South Tangerang (Tangsel) Regional Election Contest.

Harassment is carried out by someone who is suspected of being sympathizers or supporters of a rival in South Tangerang regional election 2020, namely the pair of candidates Siti Nur Azizah – Ruhamaben and Benjamin Davnie – Pilar Saga.

Through the Facebook social network, an account named Bang Djoel uploaded a photo of Sara in a pregnant state with an image narrative of abuse.

“Those who want to vote for udel are welcome. Udel has been spared. Is it appropriate to be a role model, let alone the leader of Tangsel?” write a Facebook account named Bang Djoel, quoted Monday (26/10/2020).

The post went viral when Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) politician Tsamara Amany re-uploaded the post on his personal Twitter account.

Tsamara said that the candidate for deputy mayor who was promoted by his party competed in the South Tangerang regional election by campaigning for its programs.

However, the person behind Bang Djoel’s account took issue with Sara’s photo and made it a tool of harassment.

“Mbak @RahayuSaraswati went around South Tangerang campaigning the program. And this person is more interested in discussing udel? If pregnancy photos are used as a tool of harassment, the problem must be the brain of the harasser,” said Tsamara in his teasing.

Tsamara also asked the candidate pair number one and two to discipline their supporters so they would not take this action.

“After smooth thighs, now vote udel. Candidates no 2 & 3 must discipline supporters,” he wrote.

Sara finally spoke up after learning that someone had re-uploaded her pregnancy photos and used them as a means of sexual harassment.

The defense minister’s nephew said the photo used to harass her was taken about five years ago, when she was pregnant with her first child.

However, the uploader associated the photo with South Tangerang Regional Election contestation and used it for political purposes.

“It was used as an attack tool that questioned my qualifications as a leader,” said Sara, Monday (26/10/2020).

According to Sara, the words that the account owner wrote in his uploads included a form of sexual harassment.

The actions taken by that person can no longer be tolerated. Moreover, this post uses photos of ‘Maternity’ which should be the happiness of parents.

“Regardless of each other’s personal beliefs and the way we think about dressing properly, the words used are clearly harassment and this is absolutely not tolerable,” said Sara.

Not the first time

This post narrating harassment of Sara is not the first time Sara has been competing to win the 2020 South Tangerang Regional Election with her partner, Muhamad.

In early September 2020, he also felt that he had been harassed by one of the Democratic Party politicians, namely Cipta Panca Laksana.

At that time, Panca wrote “The thighs of the candidate for deputy mayor of Tangsel are really smooth” on his personal Twitter account.

Panca’s writing was later discussed and reaped responses from a number of parties. Many of them thought that the post ‘Thigh Smooth’ was aimed at Sara.

Moreover, the Democrat Politician sent the tweet shortly after Sara uploaded a photo of him exercising in the Bintaro area, Tangsel.

Sara said that Panca’s writing that directed sexual harassment was aimed at her.

However, the candidate for deputy mayor number two did not prosecute the tweet because the name or photo of the person in question was not included.

“Because there are no photos and no names. So it is easy that the person concerned states that he is not addressed to a specific person,” said Sara when confirmed Monday (26/10/2020).

Sara did not respond much to Panca’s tweets and chose to focus on carrying out her political agenda in Tangsel.

However, Sara still believes that the writing was intended to insult him.

The reason was, Panca did not provide clarification on who the person in question was.

“If it says it is not addressed to me, it means it is aimed at another candidate for deputy mayor. But this has never been clarified,” said Sara.

Take the legal route

Two times received verbal sexual harassment, Sara finally plans to take legal action to solve the case.

Sara is of the view that any form of harassment, including what she experienced in the 2020 South Tangerang Regional Election contestation, cannot be tolerated.

” Sexual harassment cannot be tolerated. We are considering taking legal steps, “said Sara, Monday (26/10/2020).

“(The legal route) is being prepared,” he continued

Muhamad-Sara’s winning team also fully supports the legal settlement of the harassment case. They assumed that the perpetrator had intended to harass.

“It is clear that this perpetrator has the intention of defiling sexuality against Rahayu Saraswati,” said Secretary of the winning team for the Muhamad-Sara Candidate Pair, Wanto Sugito, Monday.

Wanto said that his party would first discuss with the Muhamad-Sara Legal Team to determine the next step.

However, he confirmed that the winning team would try to find out who was behind the posts narrating the abuse against the deputy mayor he supported.

“I can not conclude, but whoever the perpetrator must have something to do with the elections in Tangsel,” he said.

“We leave it to the related parties to find the perpetrators and the actors. What is certain is that we will pursue it,” he continued.
