Yannis Ragousis emphasized three points in his position at today’s meeting of the Central Committee of SYRIZA:
” 1) Upvoting the impeachment motion means re-appealing to the base, not a coup d’état. Allegations of this type of diversion & coup d’état could have a basis if, after the censure, the former President was replaced by someone or something else, from the KE.
But that didn’t happen. Grassroots elections are called.
2) On the contrary, the coup rhetoric constitutes a de facto split of the official opposition of the country, by those who use it.
3) There must definitely be a political Congress before the election of a president.”
The member of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA considers that it is necessary to take specific decisions before the election of the president:
“National elections will be held in 2.5 years, so we have plenty of time to rebuild. However, since whoever is elected as the new President, it will not be Alexis Tsipras, it is necessary to make major political decisions before the election of a new President.
Otherwise, political division and introversion will continue even after the election of the President. And so the descent will continue. We will have a lot more turmoil after the election of the President if we don’t have Congress decisions.”
