A fire broke out in a barn on the Kattenhage in Boerakker on Saturday evening. A lot of smoke is released during the blazing fire.

The fire brigade is on site, among other things, with an extra tanker sprayer and an aerial platform. According to the spokesman for the fire service, it is a ‘farmer’s barn with tractors and other agricultural implements’. The fire brigade takes into account the possible explosion hazard due to, for example, the presence of gas bottles in the shed.

Water jet between shed and house
A so-called stop line, a constant stream of water between the shed and the house, must ensure that the fire does not spread to the house. According to the spokesperson, the barn can be considered lost.

No injuries were reported in the fire. One person did inhale smoke. This person has been checked in the ambulance and is doing well, according to the spokesperson.

‘Large fire’
The fire alarm came to the control room just after 9 p.m. on Saturday evening. It was soon scaled up to ‘medium fire’ and then to ‘large fire’.
