Rafael Rubio, appointed deputy delegate of the Government in Valencia

VALENCIA. The ex-leader of the PSPV in the city of Valencia, Rafael Rubio, will be the new subdelegate of the Government in the province. Since 2015, Rubio has held the general coordination of the Department of Urban Development in the City of Valencia, first under the orders of the former Socialist Councilor Vicent Sarrià, and since 2019, of its successor Sandra Gomez. Now, he will join the Government Delegation, which directs Gloria Calero.

In this way, Rubio will occupy the position that until now he had been exercising José Roberto González Cachorro, who resigned last week to return to his post at the Local Police of Valencia, as published in the newspaper The Provinces. Rubio is considered a historian of the Valencian socialists: he was a candidate for mayor in 2003 and secretary general of the PSPV in the capital from 2000 to 2007, when he resigned after the candidate’s poor results Carmen Alborch.

He was a provincial deputy between 2007 and 2011, and later, parliamentary in Les Corts until 2015, when after falling off the electoral list he was rescued in the Valencian consistory by the mayor Sarrià in the Department of Urbanism. There he has diligently carried out the coordination work in an always complex council, which he now abandons.

Thus, in the last five years he has remained in a second line of politics, especially after being charged in a separate piece of the Imelsa case, which investigates fictitious contracts and irregular compensation in the Provincial Government. It has not been a hindrance, however, for the former socialist leader to return to the front line, now in the Government Delegation.
