Rafael Nadal confirms his goal is to return to tennis, but adds that he does not expect to win the Australian Open or the French Open, admitting that could be “impossible” given his current situation.

Nadal, 37, suffered an injury to his psoas muscle at this year’s Australian Open and has not played since. After being forced to miss this year’s French Open, Nadal treated his psoas injury surgically.

Nadal’s goal is to be ready for the start of the 2024 season, but returning after surgery and a year off at the age of 37 wouldn’t be easy for anyone, not even a legend like Nadal. “I want to get back on the court and compete, but I don’t expect/hope to win Roland Garros and Australia.

That seems very far away, even if not impossible,” Nadal said on Movistar Plus+.

Nadal said his estimated recovery time was five months.

Originally, Nadal was only supposed to be out for six to eight weeks, but then he suffered several setbacks in his recovery. In early June, Nadal decided to have his psoas muscle surgically repaired.

After the surgery was completed, Nadal revealed that doctors had told him that the estimated recovery time for him was five months. “Hello everyone. As you know, I had an operation last night.

Everything went well and the arthroscopy was performed on the left psoas tendon, which has kept me out of competition since January. An old injury to the labrum of my left hip has also been regulated, which will certainly aid in better development of the tendon.

I would like to thank doctors Marc Philippon, Jaume Vilaró and Angel Ruiz-Cotorro for their work. I will begin progressive functional rehabilitation immediately and the normal recovery process they tell me is 5 months if everything goes well.

Thank you again for all the support you have shown me and that you show me every day. Today is also my birthday. Not in the place I wanted or dreamed of, but THANK YOU anyway,” Nadal announced on June 3rd.
