The second match of Rafael Nadal’s return to the court took less than 1h30.
The Spaniard defeated Australian Jason Kubler (102nd in the world) in 1h21 in the second round of the tournament in Brisbane, Australia, winning 6-1 and 6-2 and is in the quarter-finals of the tournament that prepares the Australian Open.
The Spaniard started at full speed, taking the first 12 out of 13 possible points. It quickly reached 5-0, almost without letting Kubler enter the game. The crowd did everything they could to support the man of the house, but Nadal closed the first set 6-1 in 38 minutes. Kubler also felt problems with his right elbow, and had to be assisted.
Nadal then slowed down a little and maybe even more, because during a 5-minute break to change his clothes – very humid in Brisbane – he ended up arriving on the court a few seconds late, receiving a warning from the referee.
